This runway show is definitely not your mama's catwalk. The wildly popular event is "a collaboration of rock-minded trendsetters, hellbent on outfitting Austin's most fashion backward." The lead Prototype hunnie herself, Audrie San Miguel, shares the low down on this year's Fashion Freakout—
I recently confessed to my ultimate foodie friend Lisa Hickey (check out her cool blog here) that I can't cook...But, I am trying. I did get a Le Creuset pot for Christmas, which has felt less intimidating to use since you can kind of just throw everything in.
Lisa (who somehow manages to keep up her busy job as the Marketing Director of C3 Presents while whipping up beautiful meals each night) recently shared this recipe with me, and I can't wait to try it this week.

Johhny Depp? Russell Brand? James Franco? It seems that everyone sees a resemblance between this month's cover star and a famous face. Whatever it may be, Lukas seems to have gained many fans in Austin. We found him through one of our favorite agencies, Wallflower Management. We shot with Lucas just before he moved to Miami (where he signed on with FORD Models and is on hold for Abercrombie & Fitch and a few others), so we caught up with him to see how things were going.
How is Miami so far?
GREAT! The weather is perfect. It's the only spot in the States where you can go swimming in the ocean in January.
How did you start modeling?
The always fashion forward Dapper Dane emailed me this video over the weekend. The Sartorialist is really the godfather of the street fashion photography movement. Get a closeup view at what catches his discerning eye. Find more interesting street style blogs below:
One of Austin's most renowned graphic designers, Christian Helms (who has worked with everyone from HBO and Toyota to Spoon and Modest Mouse), shares his perfect Austin Day. And, 2011 is off to a big start, as he just launched Helms Workshop and continues to be a co-owner of FRANK. He is pictured above in a portrait by one of TRIBEZA's favorite photographers, Jay B. Sauceda.
This is the first in a new series at The Austinista—My Perfect Austin Day. Each week, we will invite one of our favorite Austinites to share their personal lineup for their ultimate day in our beloved city. Tonight, Brad begins his second journey to find love on ABC's The Bachelor.
I would wake up and immediately head to Town Lake for a very long run. I love the fact that we have such a beautiful place to exercise right in the middle of the city.
I would then head straight to Magnolia Cafe for their pancakes!!
The January 2008 cover of TRIBEZA is one of my favorite's, mostly because I got to style such a talented model—Maren Stavinoha. Our whole crew knew we were working with a rising star and two years later, we opened the December 2010 issues of Vogue and W to find Maren as Vogue's Model of the Moment!
She now goes by Britt Maren, and her big break came when Alexander Wang chose her to open his Spring 2011 show. Then, it was off to Paris for the Balenciaga show. They cut eight inches off her hair and dyed it platinum blonde for a drastic new look!
It's arrived! My favorite part? The interior design throughout the main level! It's all thanks to Design Director, Heather Plimmer. The Vanderbilt and Parsons School of Design grad brought an Austin sensibility and brilliantly uses color in each space. Bravo!
