Hadyn Elizabeth Jobe & Robert (Bradley) Hicks
Married September 4, 2011

When Hadyn Jobe was a little girl, her father predicted that she’d get married in Carmel one day, a place where her parents loved to vacation. This was before she had even set foot on Carmel’s soil. Back then, Dr. Jobe had no idea his daughter would meet the love of her life, Bradley Hicks, in a class called “The Geography of Latin America” at UT while she was a senior and Bradley was a junior. Dr. Jobe couldn’t have known that his daughter would move to Argentina and then to California so that Bradley could train to become a Navy SEAL. A year and half later, Bradley took Hadyn to a lodge and didn’t even get to propose before Hadyn found out. (“I kept asking him, ‘What’s in your pocket?’ I basically ruined the proposal and grabbed the ring,” she says.) After plans to marry in Guatemala fell through, Hadyn’s father said, “Remember what I always told you! What about Carmel?”

That was when the Carmel dream came true.

Hadyn, barefoot and wearing an Enzoani tulle gown with a gorgeous train, exchanged vows with a handsome Bradley, who proudly donned his Navy SEAL uniform on September 4, 2011. A festive group of 275 guests attended a white-and-cream-colored wedding centered on a seahorse theme (Hadyn’s parents had once found a seahorse washed up on the shore while they were vacationing in Carmel) that boasted an elegant dinner reception. Using the finest ingredients, Paradise Catering’s team grilled fresh meat and vegetables (grown organically in their own garden) right before each guest’s eyes. Cupcakes with edible flowers, from a charming bakery called Pastries and Petals, provided sweet treats for the celebration. Everyone danced in the barn on Holman Ranch for at least three hours before the bride and groom were tuckered out. She says: “When I was working in Argentina, Bradley asked me to spend the rest of our lives together, and I haven’t regretted a single moment ever since.”
