12th Annual Texas Film Hall of Fame by Katie Brown

It's no secret that everything is bigger in Texas – and that includes award shows. The Austin Film Society's 12th Anual Texas Hall of Fame Awards promises to be an extravagant affair film buffs won't want to miss.
Since 2001, the Texas Film Hall of Fame has honored Texas legends that have made a significant contribution to film, entertainment and music: Renée Zellweger, Dennis Quiad and Matthew McConaughey are all among the award's notable former recipients. This year, honorees include actor Barry Corbin, musician Meat Loaf, and filmmaker Douglas McGrath.

To add to the excitement of the night, emerging local musicians including the native Austinite Suzanna Choffel and the innovative singer/songwriter Nakia will be making special musical guest appearances during the Awards show. They will be taking the stage with Grammy award-winning Latin funk orchestra, Grupo Fantasma.
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 8 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater downtown. Single and table tickets can be found on the Austin Film Society website. Proceeds contribute to the Society's efforts to raise awareness of film's impact on the economy and community.
