Austin Wedding: Katy Wilson and Rick Orr

Not everyone is willing to step up to the plate, but thankfully Katy Wilson and Rick Orr agreed to be my guinea pigs this week. (Note: They are the first couple to be featured in this blog! Squeal.) I met them for lunch at a great Italian place called Cipollina’s off West Lynn Street where we talked wedding details. But before we get into the Day of Commitment, let me introduce you to this cute couple.

Their story begins in 2008 when Katy had just recently graduated from college with a degree in education and Spanish and Rick was embarking on a new business venture called Tabbedout. One fateful evening, their life journeys crossed paths. Separately, each of their friends dragged them to J. Blacks on Sixth Street even though they each felt like being couch potatoes that night. While their friends did not hit it off, they did, and they ended up wanting to stay longer to talk. Cupid sent piercing arrows through each of their hearts.

Fast forward a couple years, and Rick tells Katy to join him on a business trip in New Orleans. (Ha! business trip…we all see where this is going!) Yet Katy really does think it’s a business trip right until her soon-to-be fiancé gets down on his knee while they’re having dinner. Then it hits her and immediately she starts crying, so she doesn’t really hear the entire proposal. It was a quick one, anyway, something along the lines of, “Will you be my wife?”

That’s the gist of it.

This past weekend they kindly invited me to their wedding where I was able to see all the exquisite and fun details that Katy and Rick had planned for their guests. I'll let these pictures speak for themselves!

Isn't this breathtaking?

The lovely clan

Reception was held at the Allan House! Just a block away from the ceremony.

Lovebirds!

Katy had this special groomscake prepared for Rick since he's the CEO of Tabbedout.

I love puns! Katy used her familia's names in the menu. I wonder how they felt about being eaten?

A shout-out to Ben Godkin for the great shots!
