Women and Girls Lead: Austin

Throughout life, there are the unforgettable women who leave a lasting impact: our mothers, first and foremost, our sisters, our friends. This summer, KLRU invites Austinites to recognize the women who inspire us today through Women and Girls Lead.

Part of a national, public media initiative to educate citizens about the issues women and girls face, Women and Girls Lead: Austin highlights the women who have become community leaders. From Coach Beverly Kearney (see her Life in Photos in our June issue) to Suzanne Santos, the Development Director of the Sustainable Food Center, Women and Girls Lead celebrates the unique stories of these women through independent documentary film, television, new media and global outreach partnerships. Short films about some of Austin's most dynamic women are available for viewing online

If you know a woman who is an inspiring leader, be sure to nominate her to be a part of the Women and Girls Lead: Austin project. Join the organization on Thursday, August 23 at the KLRU studios to honor these amazing women. The event is free and open to the public.
