Lauren Smith Ford

Editor + Creative Director

At her small Catholic elementary school in South Texas, where Lauren was never without an oversized bow in her hair, she couldn’t understand why they only had altar boys, so she set out to change the school’s policy, becoming the first of many altar girls to come (and making the nuns very proud). She’s always loved a challenge, and her first job in fashion was just that — writing a weekly column for her college newspaper (“Campus Couture”) in the not-so-fashion capital of the world, College Station, Texas. She has written for ELLEgirl, Glamour, Teen Vogue and texasmonthly.com. Lauren joined TRIBEZA in 2006 and became the editor in Feburary of 2010. She also works as a freelance wardrobe stylist; recent projects include work for magazines like Esquire, Marie Claire, More, Outside and Texas Monthly.  Lauren serves on the boards of the Austin Bat Cave, a non-profit that provides children and teenagers with opportunities to develop their creative writing skills and PechaKucha, She is also a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program and lives in Brykerwoods with her husband and perfect opposite, Bennett.
